vocab for ss

witness-One who can give a firsthand account of something seen, heard, or experienced

indict-To make a formal accusation or indictment against (a party) by the findings of a jury

testify-To make a declaration of truth or fact under oath

grand jury-A jury of 12 to 23 people

due process-An established course for judicial proceedings

capital punishment-the penalty of death for the commission of a crime.  

excessive-Exceeding a normal, usual, reasonable, or proper limit.

bail-Security, usually a sum of money, exchanged for the release of an arrested person

peer-A person who has equal standing with another or others, as in rank, class, or age

if the person is not from the country then they should get less rights than someone from the country that gets all the rights
